Cosplayers eyeing HK trip

DRESSING up for Halloween and cosplay (short for costume play) will pay of for three lucky participants of the HKTB-Animax Hong Kong Halloween Treats Cosplay Contest.
This regional competition, organised last month by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Astro Animax – Asia’s premiere anime and youth entertainment channel, attracted some 200 entries, with over 60 from Malaysia.
The competition was part of the HKTB-Animax Hong Kong Halloween Treats regional campaign in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.
It required participants to submit photographs to show the world how cosplaying is part of their life. The photographs can be viewed at www.animaxtv.com.
Three winners, to be announced soon, will get an all-expense-paid three-day-two-night dream Halloween holiday to Hongkong.
Those who have missed the cosplay competition but still want to win a holiday to Hongkong can blog about the HKTB-Animax Hong Kong Halloween Treats Cosplay Contest and how Hongkong is the dream destination for cosplayers during the Halloween season.
Bloggers can email the URLs of their blog entries with their names and contact numbers to contests@animax-asia.com before 6pm tomorrow for a chance to win the prize of a three-day-two-night trip to Hongkong.
The HKTB-Animax judging panel will award the trip to the top three blog sites based on popularity (number of hits) and comments, creativity and originality.
"It’s not always that youths get recognition for simply indulging in hobbies such as cosplay and blogging," said Gregory Ho, vice president and general manager of Animax Asia, at a recent function to announce the HKTB-Animax Hong Kong Halloween Treats campaign.
"Animax is delighted to partner HKTB to enable Asia’s cosplayers and bloggers to simply do what they love to do, that is, showcase their talents and be rewarded for their creativity.
"With the unique prize of a Hongkong Halloween holiday, winners can look forward to making new friends from across Asia, and discovering a host of unique youth experiences that Hongkong has to offer."
David Leung, regional director of HKTB South and Southeast Asia, added: "Hong Kong Halloween Treats is a funky, month-long [October] mix of street parties and dressed-up attractions with restaurants and bars offering themed menus and shopping malls unleashing a ghoulish assortment of shopping fun.
"HKTB is pleased to collaborate with Animax Asia to showcase this exciting variety of entertaining events and activities in Hongkong to the winners of the two contests.
"The zeal and enthusiasm of Asia’s cosplayers and bloggers will be a great catalyst to the fun quotient of the Hong Kong Halloween Treats."
Indulging in the fun of Halloween in Hongkong is not the only attraction for the winners as they will also get a special invitation to an exclusive HKTB-Animax Halloween party in Hongkong on Oct 23.
At the event, winners will get to meet in person, Tokyo-based blogger and world famous dancing StormtrooperDanny Choo and celebrity cosplayer Alodia from the Philippines.
